Ground transportation

There are free shuttle services available at the airport between terminals, approximately every 15 minutes, assisting travelers and helping them to get in time to their connecting flights.

Car rental services are also available at the airport, approximately 40 car rental companies operating out of the airport, most of them being situated on the lower level, near the baggage claim area.

In front of each terminal, travelers can find taxi services, and there are also 2 van companies (Prime Time Shuttle and SuperShuttle) that are offering their services and operating routes to all the counties in Southern California.

Getting around

By Car:

The traffic can get very stressful in some days and practical advice would be to get a map of the city and study the shortcuts (or `long cuts`) during rush hour if you don't want to spend a good few hours on the highway.

By Bike or Walking:

Walking or riding the bike to travel within the city of Los Angeles is not the most inspired idea, because the popular destinations and tourists attractions are spread across the entire city. However, it can be great for relaxation purposes or to get a little exercise, while sightseeing.

By Public Transportation:

Traffic can ruin your day sometimes, here, in Los Angeles, and the public transportation service is not the city's stronger asset. The best option to get in the downtown area is to take the MTA Metro, and to get around the beach towns, people often use the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus.

Good to Know: The average bus fare in the Metropolitan area is of around $3 for a single ride and the average cab fare from LAX to Downtown Los Angeles is of about $45 (without considering the traffic).
